Merry Christmas!

December 23, 2010
Dear Friends and Family,
Christmas is a good excuse to send out a letter to everyone we care about. In the past we have given a review of our year and I think that I will continue and make it a tradition. Vanessa likes to make traditions. Some traditions are awesome! For example the Argentines eat ñoqui every 29th day of the month. Sorry February you only have ñoqui day every four years. This letter is also an awesome tradition.

This year after a few false starts with housing Steven accepted a position with the Northern Lights Council of the Boy Scouts of America as a District Executive.  He works with many volunteers to make sure that the Scouting program in northwestern ND and a couple counties in MT is the best that it can be. Vanessa is working full time as a preschool teacher and childcare provider for Ekblad Development Center. She has a great time working with the kids and all of her co-workers wouldn’t know what to do if she took a day off.
We’ve only moved twice this year bring our total to 9 since we started dating. In March we packed up our one bed room apartment in downtown Salt Lake City and drove for three days to Bismarck, ND. It would only be a short term stop for us though. In July we packed everything again, said good bye to the new friends we had just made and moved into a two bed room apartment we had been waiting 4 months to get.
Of course moving so far from home means that we had to travel back a couple times to prove that we still loved our family. In May we flew down to Utah for the second Lowe family reunion. CLAS Ropes Course hosted the event and Steven facilitated all the activities. If you live near Provo and are looking for an exciting adventure give CLAS Ropes a call. In October we made yet another trip to Utah. This time we took our happy little Suzuki. We drove at night to maximize vacation days. The wedding was great. Grandma Candy is a wonderful hostess and sack lunch maker. The Baileys had a caricature artist at the celebration! We are so lucky that the car made it back, the timing belt broke just days later.

On our third Sunday in Williston the bishop called us into his office. We walked out as teachers for Primary and Sunday School. Steven teaches the grownups, no one has fallen asleep yet.  Vanessa has the fun job CTR 4; next year she’ll have a class of 13. She was also volunteered as a den leader.

North Dakota is beautiful. It’s not as flat or as frozen as we were told it would be. But there snow, lots of snow, and wind, lots of wind. In fact with the rivers all over the place there is quite bit geology. We haven’t found anything to climb on yet but we are hopeful and we can’t wait to go camping when summer comes around again.

Love,
Steven and Vanessa Lowe

love to read your review--looks like a pretty good year. And I love that new picture of you and Steven. You asked about the nativity video the primary made about 50 years ago:P--there was a copy in the ward library with the video's but I'm not sure if they kept it when they remodeled.

Thanks for sharing your family letter with me. It sounds like you are both doing wonderful work both with your jobs and for the Lord. I hope this year is equally as wonderful, if not more. -Angie
